Welcome

 LASER HAIR REMOVAL KANSAS CITY

 "near me"

Our lasers/pulsed light systems are among the MOST

advanced technology for hair removal that is hard to match for power, speed, pricing and comfort.  We have some really great and new systems to protect the skin. Further, the CYNOSURE VECTUS™    and CYNOSURE ELITE iQ hair removal systems, among the newest technologies, are often considerably less painful than other hair removal systems based on our patient comments that have been to other clinics and used other systems, and that is because it has one of the best advanced internal cooling systems in the business. We have some great prices for laser hair removal with this advanced technology that is now in Kansas City and for the entire central USA.

OUR CLINIC HAS MULTIPLE HAIR REMOVAL SYSTEMS, BUT WE LIKE THE CYNOSURE VECTUS™ and CYNOSURE ELITE iQ LASER SYSTEMS ARE THE BEST FOR THEIR SPEED, POWER, GENERAL COMFORT, COOLING SYSTEMS, AND ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY.

The Vectus™ Laser features the integrated SkinTel Melanin Reader™
only FDA-cleared melanin reader, helping providers to more safely offer optimized hair removal treatments tailored to each client's skin type, lifestyle, and ethnicity.

The VECTUS™ LASER, in our opinion,  high quality aesthetic systems in the world. They deliver high powered light pulses to kill the hair follicle, and at the same time, in our opinion from our patients comments, are some of the most comfortable hair removal systems in existence. The VECTUS™  have some of the most advanced internal cooling systems for "contact" cooling for their handpiece systems, which patients comment makes it more comfortable than others they tried at other clinics where they had did prior hair removal. Frequently patients will switch to our clinic for our high quality systems and for the staff's long-term experience. After experiencing the treatments they are amazed at the results, speed, bargain prices, and overall general comfort and ease of the treatment.

We also offer a YAG laser for Skin Types V and VI (darker pigment in the skin generally for Black skin and African ancestry types of race or ethnicity).

Beware of warranties, guarantees, scare tactics, and hard sales! They are used by the franchise clinics to con people into “higher priced” sessions, “excessive numbers” of treatments, or “expensive package deals”. All warranty and guarantee contracts are set up to have many “exclusion criteria” to break and void the warranty agreement . They are generally a waste of your money; please do not fall for these gimmicks! You will simply pay more for the clinics with their million dollar buildings and furnishings and the endless array of radio and television ads they bombard on the public with false promises and "scare tactics".  They like to scare people that only their equipment will work.

The radio DJ's promoting these ads almost always have gotten a free series or heavily discounted treatments for themselves, is this who you want to trust for advice.

Remember, you are paying for all this marketing cost in your treatments.  Many of these franchise outfits reward the people who do their sales with commission fees, this is just not wise to fall for their sale pitch acting like they will give you this great deal for multiple sessions but "you must sign the contract right now". Do not fall for this trap.

Laser/Pulsed Light Hair Removal in Kansas City

How does hair reduction work?
The laser, generally speaking, is a fairly non-invasive light therapy device specifically designed to eliminate undesired hair from all parts of the body. The laser generates a pulse of concentrated light/laser energy which is directed through a small hand-piece which is gently applied to the treatment site. This laser energy passes through the skin to the hair follicle, where the energy is absorbed by pigment in the hair and hair follicle, causing selective damage to the hair root, sheath, or bulb without trying to damage delicate pores and other structures in the area of the skin or subcutaneous tissue. Hair is shed over the next 1-4 weeks. The laser can be used just about anywhere on the body, and requires no anesthesia. Even sensitive areas such as the nipples, upper lip and bikini line can be treated quite easily and with what most say is minimal discomfort.  Dark and coarser hair responds the best, and blond, gray, or thinner hair responds the least.  Hormones can also effect the hair follicle and vary the result.  Medications, diseases, sun and tanning, hormones, genetic or familial issues, color and ethnic darkness of the skin, and other sometimes unknown issues can effect the results or increase the risk of adverse reactions.

How lasers differ?
Lasers place a burst of single wave-length light energy through the hand piece. Intense pulsed light - these systems are flash lamps producing a spectrum of light energy rather than single wavelength of laser light.  Our office uses laser systems (they are very sophisticated and up to date technology) that works on all skin types, but it is wise to avoid a fresh suntan or sun exposure to reduce risks with any laser or pulsed light system.  There are many cheaper and less sophisticated systems on the market, so it is buyer beware, do your research on what you are getting on some of the marketed "bargain package deals" you get sent to your e-mails (you know the companies I am talking about).

Our office uses the newest and most powerful VECTUS™ SYSTEM.  Try not to have a fresh suntan or sun exposure (within 2 weeks of appt.) when you come in for treatment, the treatment will be better because we can use more energy without sun exposure or a tan.  Tanning can make for more sessions, because the power may need to be reduced.

What areas on the body can be treated?
Most parts of the body can be treated with our hair removing lasers. In women, the most common areas for treatment are the lower half of the face, legs, bikini line, underarms, thighs, linea, breasts or chest, lip, chin, or neck. In men, the most common areas for treatment are back, shoulders, chest, abdomen, neck and facial areas. We do not treat eyebrows, lashes, or upper brow because of the inherent risks involved.  We do not treat buttocks or anal areas.

What are the benefits of laser/pulsed light compared to other treatments?
The primary benefits of laser hair removal include:
o Larger areas may be treated than with electrolysis, waxing, tweezing, or plucking.
o speed, comfort and long-lasting reduction.
o They have been shown they produce nice results!
o Even though no one has proved they are not safe for use on pregnant women, we ask that you avoid treatments at that time. Please inform us if you are pregnant, and we can arrange treatment after you have delivered. We do not do treatments on pregnant patients and prefer to wait till nursing is over.  Please wait till you are done to start treatments.

Hair removal methods like plucking or waxing which cause irritation may actually stimulate hair growth. Laser hair removal offers long lasting reduction, and even if hair does eventually grow back (hormone influences) it is usually finer in texture and lighter in color than the original hair, and much less of a cosmetic problem. No system can guarantee 100% permanent hair removal forever (anyone that says this is lying and in violation consumer laws)!  When a franchise clinic tells you hair is gone 100% permanent forever, this is fraudulent and in violation of FDA regulations.

How does it compare to electrolysis?
Electrolysis can be a tedious process. Laser hair removal is much faster with a laser/pulsed light system because each "pulse" of laser light disables a large number of hair follicles, and pulses can be delivered very fast.

What does it cost?
You will find that the fees listed for laser hair removal using the efficient, effective, laser systems are surprisingly affordable. Fees are per treatment session and must be paid with Visa, MasterCard, or cash in full at the time of service. Individual treatments are expected to be paid on the day of the treatment session.  We have complimentary consults available for hair removal or tattoo removal.

Pricing per session: Our laser systems are among the few in the Kansas City with Advanced technology for hair removal that is hard to match for power, speed, pricing and comfort.  Be careful about getting trapped into contracts with excessive numbers of treatments or "packages" or by "guarantees" that come with a much higher price per treatment. Once they have your "package money" you will not get it back from them even if you do not like them or their is an adverse reaction.  Prices posted are all individual treatments. *For the best permanent hair reduction, we recommend a minimum of five or six treatments in the same treatment area. Even doing one or two treatments often results in significant hair reduction and often decreases the coarseness or density of the hair.

 Is laser covered by insurance?
Lasers considered cosmetic procedure and are NOT covered by insurance. Sometimes it may be covered by your health savings plan.
Is it a tax deductible medical expense?
Consult your tax adviser!  Often medical savings plans will cover and reimburse you for laser and cosmetic treatments, contact your plan administrator.

How much hair will grow back?
The laser works by trying to destroy hair roots and bulbs which are active at the time of treatment, and which have enough pigment to absorb sufficient laser energy. The hair shafts in the treated hair follicles will generally fall out or be "shed" for 1-4 weeks after treatment. After the first treatment, hair regrowth may resume within a few weeks or it may be anywhere from 2-4 months before any true hair growth is observed.

  Risks of laser hair removal?
Short-term side effects may include a slight reddening of the skin or local swelling which typically lasts less than an hour or two usually, although it may very infrequently last for a few days. Even though adverse reactions are rare, no one can guarantee that they will not occur in some individuals, we do everything in our power to try and reduce any incidence of adverse reactions, but even with the best of care, they can still occur in certain individuals because of various individual sensitivities, genetic variances, sun or tanning issues, and allergies to laser/pulsed light, which are often  impossible to predict or know in advance of the treatment. Try to reduce fresh suntans or sun exposure for at least 2 weeks before any laser and pulsed light hair reduction treatments.

Is laser hair removal "permanent"?  There is NO hair removal method (including laser) which can guarantee anybody "permanent hair removal forever". Due to hormonal stimulation it is possible that there may be some hair regrowth in the treated area. The most realistic description of the results after laser/pulsed light treatment that we see is: "long-term hair reduction". This means: After four to six treatments the total amount of hair is greatly reduced -- often by 60% to 90% -- and hair which does grow is often less dense, much finer, and lighter in color. Most people are very pleased with this degree of improvement, as long as they know that this is what to expect before they have laser hair removal treatment.

Will I be "hair free" in the treated area?
No, most patients experience a 60-90% reduction with a complete series of sessions (this varies by number of treatments and regularity of the sessions done) in the amount of hair in a given area, and a reduction in the thickness and color of the remaining hair, but you should not expect to be "hair free". Hormones can effect the hair follicle both before or after treatments.  Many things can influence the results of long-term hair reduction including but not limited to: hormones, age, color, density, coarseness of the hair, drugs and medications, genetics and familial patterns (often seen in Middle Eastern, Asian, Indian, Pakistani, and other ethnic skin), diseases (ie., polycystic ovaries, adrenal issues, hirsutism, etc.), sun and tanning, darker skin, etc.  These things may make the treatments less responsive or even not work.  Often you can still see reduction, but you just need to keep up long term maintenance hair reduction several times a year as long as it continues to respond to treatment.  This often will provide a nice cosmetic and emotional benefit to the patient for chronic hair problems.

Who should get hair removal?
The unique design of newer laser/pulsed light systems allows treatment of people with all skin colors and treatment of even light brown hair. Because hair which is naturally blond, light red, or white does not have enough pigment in the roots, it cannot be reliably treated with any type of laser. Fewer treatments are needed when the hair is dark and the skin is light colored -- so to get maximum effect from each session avoid tanning prior to treatments. Children can be treated if they have a problem with excessive hair, but the children must be old enough to cooperate with treatment. We treat children if they are stable emotionally and able to cooperate and have parental consent. We reserve the right to refuse any treatment for any reason if we are not comfortable with the situation.  Also, some very dark skin may be too risky to treat and we will refuse for medical reasons.  Some skin types just cannot be treated because of certain adverse reaction risks or issues.  We always reserve the right to refuse treatment.

Does hair color matter?  Red hair or very light colored blonde hair may not respond very well, and white or grey hair does not respond hardly at all to treatment.

Things to ask yourself before hair reduction:
How much are you bothered by your facial hair or other areas?  How much are you bothered by the time you spend removing, treating, or concealing your facial hair? How uncomfortable does your facial or other unwanted hair make you feel in exchanges of affection (dating or with your partner)? How uncomfortable does your unwanted hair make you feel when you meet new people? How uncomfortable does your unwanted hair make you feel when you go to social gatherings or other public place? How uncomfortable does your unwanted hair make you feel when you go to work or school? This can be some of the best money you will ever spend for overall self-satisfaction and for one's mental health and emotional or physical well-being.

Other syndromes or familial issues:
o Hirsutism is excessive growth of hair in androgen (testosterone)-dependent areas of a woman’s body where hair is not normally found, including the face, neck, chest or medial thighs.
o Hypertrichosis is excessive growth of hair in non-androgen dependent parts of the body (i.e. Areas other than the face, neck, chest and medial thighs).

Some "familial" or genetic hair growth issues in certain ethnic groups can be very stubborn to treat and may require recurrent maintenance for years or life long.  This can be common in certain Middle Eastern, Indian, Pakistani or Asian ethnic groups but can effect any culture or race in certain instances.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

PRIOR TO LASER HAIR REMOVAL

 Pre-treatment instructions:
Please do not do any waxing, plucking or tweezing for at least 2-3 weeks before treatment.
Please try to minimize tanning and sun exposure for at least 2 weeks before treatment: a fresh tan can interfere a bit with the effectiveness of the laser/light treatment and raise adverse reactions, though this is less of a problem now with newer lasers than with older lasers.
Please do not wear makeup on the areas to be treated. Makeup can be re-applied immediately after laser treatment, if you wish.  IF YOU HAVE TOPICAL MEDICATION USED ON A TREATMENT AREA TO BE DONE, PLEASE STOP IT FOR AT LEAST 5 DAYS PRIOR TO TREATMENT.  You cannot do treatments if you have been on Accutane(isotretinoin) for at least 6 months after stopping.  Other oral medication may interfere with treatments please talk to your provider.  PLEASE DO NOT DO TREATMENTS IF YOU ARE PREGNANT.

Please shave or clip the areas to be treated the day before treatment (12-24 hours before). This way, the skin will be less sensitive. Excess hair above the surface of the skin also increases the chance of burning or irritating the skin.   Shaving should be done at home and is not included in our pricing structure.  Try to do it 12-24 hours in advance to reduce irritation.
Finally, it is always best to relax. Remember you are doing this to feel better about yourself.  The VECTUS™ advanced internal cooling systems usually help make treatments more comfortable and helps to minimize discomfort according to what our patients tell us.

Post-treatment instructions:
Redness often has faded greatly by the time you get home. Most have some redness for 1-4 hours, rarely that may extend to 1-4 days usually with very coarse or dark hair (perifollicular edema and redness is not uncommon for a while). Try to avoid sun or tanning for at least a few days after treatment. Hair shafts will be released from hair follicles in the treated area for 1-4 weeks after treatment. You do not need to do anything, but you may shave the areas if you wish, wait 3-4 days to start shaving after treatments to avoid excess irritation. Plucking, waxing and tweezing should be avoided because these things could reduce the effectiveness of the next laser or hair reduction session.  Please do not use lotions or creams over the treated areas for 4-5 days because these can plug the follicles and trap bacteria and causing folliculitis (red, rash-like inflamed or infected bumps).  Generally, it is best just to use good old soap and water and avoid other products to treated areas for 4 to 5 days.

Anything with any chemical can increase sensitivity and possible allergy in the first few days following hair removal.  Our experience tells us it seems to happen more on the legs or bikini area.  It can probably be reduced by bathing or showering several hours before you come in and within several hours after a treatment session.  Overall lotions, creams, perfume, chlorine from pools, hot tubs, sun, sunscreens, tanning, heat and sweating, perfumy soaps, aloe vera, etc., should be avoided to the treated areas for 4 days or till any folliculitis from the treatment session is gone.
